Irma’s Car

In case you didn’t catch this, here’s a recent short of ours, Irma’s Car. She began as a kind of fusion between this,

one of my random paintings, and an advertising brief Alex and I were working on based on promoting Electric Cars. We weren’t getting very far with the ad because we just found tiny little electric cars to be funny in themselves, and kept finding ideas for shorts. So… Combine a tiny car with a large lady, and a speedbump, and presto!

The animation technique is Flash for the character, 3d for the car, then Photoshop and After Effects for backgrounds and textures. We’re exploring a painterly look to apply to a couple of other projects. Irma herself is likely to find her way into a series; The trials of Irma.

Welcome

Welcome to our blog! -If you’re new to Crew972, we’re an animation studio made up of talented folk from around the world, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. It began with Alex Orrelle, an Ex-Pixar animator who co-founded the studio in 2004. Now we are a crew of 10-15 people working in shorts, VFX, advertising, Games, and our own original properties. I left my job as a director at Aardman in 2007 to develop and design new animated properties.

Here at the blog, we want to show you more about our crew, our work, and our exploits in animation. Hope you enjoy.
